New Article & Studio Picture…

January 25th, 2008

What up everybody.

I wrote an article that I would like you to check out. It also contains a pic of me in the studio workin’ on beats for the artists who come to my website regularly.

Workin’ on Beats

Check it out at Hub Pages.

In this article, I talk about the importance of using the right hip hop beats and rap beats for your songs. If you are serious about your career as an artist, then you are required to do the things that most other artists are sleepin’ on. Most independent artists are not willing to take the time necessary to pick the right beats for them. They sometimes just pick anything not understanding that the beat should be compatible with their style.

A lot of independent artists are also not willing to invest in themselves by purchasing quality beats, whether hip hop beats, rap beats, or r&b beats.

I will expand upon it, but feel free to provide feedback.

Why Beats Can Make or Break Your Song…

January 8th, 2008

If you listen to today’s music on the radio, you will hear a wide variety of songs and beats. You even nowadays hear people singing over hip hop beats, and people rapping over r&b beats! The two genres are blending a lot in today’s music.

One of the mistakes that many underground rap artists make is, they are so concerned about being what they call “real” as in being gangsta or hard.

It seems like they are more concerned about being “real” then they are about selling records and making money. So they use only beats that are hard and “gangsta” sounding. They talk about shooting and killing over these hard rap beats. It’s ok for them to do this if this is what they want, but every song on the album can’t be that way if they want to be a successful multi-platinum selling artist.

If you want to get your music on the radio, and on BET or MTV, you have to have at least a few singles, that are more commercial.

A lot of artists don’t do this, and they miss out on a whole entire market of possible customers! The goal is to capture the attention of these people through mass media such as the radio and tv, so that they will purchase the album. Once they buy the album, they will then have access to the rest of your different styles.

Keep This in Mind:
People in the streets will burn your CD! Listeners from the Radio and T.V. will buy your CD!
Which one do you think will get you to Platinum Status Faster?

So the point is, if your goal is to capture as many sells as you can, then you have to make music that everybody can listen to. You can’t make music only for the streets. You have to make it for the streets, the club, the radio/tv, and for the car. That way, you can receive sells and money from all of those different markets, instead of just from the streets.

Today’s hit music has one thing in common: No matter how stupid it may sound, it is catchy. Don’t believe me? Think about some of the stupidest songs that have been released that have blown up big over the past few years…They still managed to sell records and sell out shows…

Are You Ready For The Big Time?…

October 11th, 2007

What up future Big Timers…

Over the past weeks, I’ve met some new up-and-coming singers & rappers who want to become successful in the music industry. The only problem…some of them are not ready and willing to put everything they have into it. To them, it is more of a recreation than it is a passion.

This is fine, but it can create another problem. Sometimes, a person who is not truly passionate can accidently end up in the right place at the right time, and walk right into an opportunity that they really don’t want. This creates a problem for a serious and dedicated artist like you. You have spent years of blood, sweat, and tears working towards achieving this goal.

But you didn’t spend all of these years working day in and day out for some lazy, non-talented artist to take the opportunity that you have worked so hard for. But who’s fault is it?

Should you really put the blame on this other person? Not really, because opportunities present themselves to people who make themselves available to them. What I’m saying is, success in the music business goes beyond what you do in the studio. Just because you spend a lot of time recording in the studio does not mean your success is guaranteed. Laying tracks and recording songs in the studio is about the easiest part of the process.

When it comes time to sell your CD’s or music downloads, you will be challenged.

So for now I will leave you with one question to ponder….

What are you doing in addition to recording to further your music career?

I’ll discuss this further in the next post….

You May Not Make It in the Music Industry If…

September 26th, 2007

…You may not make it if you or someone else in your camp doesn’t understand marketing. The music industry today is about who you know and how you market. Those are the reasons why you hear garbage on the radio all throughout the day, because even though the artist may not be very talented as an artist, they or someone they know is super talented in marketing.

You also may not make it if you are not a truly passionate hustler. The fact that you are a hot talented artist or label means nothing, if you don’t have the desire or ability to hustle. Everybody wants to be successful, but hardly anyone wants to put in the work that is required to make success a reality. You may be talented, but there are 10 more people who are just as talented, and there are a few people who are less talented, but they will still make it before you…

…That is because they will hustle harder to make their dream come true. They want success as an artist bad…so bad that not even thier own mediocre talent or even lack of talent will stop them.

So what are you going to do that makes you stand above the rest? What steps are you going to take starting today to make your success happen? Why should you make it instead of the other 10 artists who are competing against you? While you are sleeping, hangin’ out, or whatever, they are either in the studio working, or on the streets promoting, or promoting online and building their fanbase, or performing.

If you want to become a full-time rapper, singer, songwriter, or whatever, then you have to put in the work now, even when it seems like you are working for nothing, you have to keep going. When i was working my job, I didn’t get much rest. As soon as I got home from work, I was going to work…for my music career. Sometimes it did feel like I was just putting in effort and seeing little results, but I had to always focus on the ultimate goal, and not the inconveniences that came along the way.

When I was finally able to quit my job and go full-time into the music industry, then I thought to myself, and I still do often, “What if I had given up and just settled for working at the gig?” That is why I am passionate about making sure that you don’t quit, and that you stay persistent in reaching your goals. I know that if I was able to make music a full-time lucrative career, then you can do it to.

I will do my best to provide you with the tools, but it is ultimately up to you to use them and make things happen…

Why Would You Want A Record Deal?

September 26th, 2007

A lot of up-and-coming artists have been calling me lately to ask how they can get a record deal. I often wonder, why would you want one in today’s industry? This is the day of the independant label, or independant artist! We have more power now than we ever did before as independent artists/labels!

The record companies are in the red! They are feeling the pain of all of the music downloading and cd burning that is going on, and they are pretty much at our mercy. They need you more than you need them. You see record labels are like banks. They give you a huge loan, which you will end up paying back with interest, and most newly signed artists never make enough to even pay these ‘advances’ aka loans back.

In fact, there are some artists who are working regular 9 to5 jobs, and they have a major record deal! So if you want to just go and get a record deal without building your own fan base and name first, then visit the link i just posted to find out more.

But if you want to put yourself in a better position, then you should get your own project recorded, and start hustlin’ yourself, because if you do it that way, you will make more mone in the long-term, and you will have more power to make your own terms when a major record label approaches you. Visit this page to learn how to sell thousands of your CD’s even on a limited budget:

Sell Your CD’s/MP3 Download Independently

It is much easier to record an album in today’s industry. If your excuse is that you can’t afford hot beats, then go to my other website, AaronBeats.com and I’ll hook you up. It is so easy to find affordable studios nowadays too!

There is no reason that you can’t become a success in the music industry…Your music is much better than a lot of the crap that is on the radio today…Keep hustlin’
